How do I add a new driver to the policy?

You can either:

  • Go to www.insurecgi.com You will be required to provide details of the new driver such as name, age, and driving experience. You will be provided with a quote for your revised premium if applicable.

Is anyone else covered to drive my car?

  • Yes, other authorized drivers are covered to drive your car.

  • Dependent on the driver, you may be eligible for age or other special excesses in the event of an accident. Please see your policy schedule for further details.

  • Your policy provides Third Party cover when you drive another person’s vehicle.

What is covered?

Can I insure my personal items when I travel overseas?

Yes! CGI can provide all risk cover for valuables:

  • Accidental loss or damage to items specified in the schedule

  • Cover applies anywhere in the West Indies

  • Up to 60 days worldwide in any one period of insurance

  • Additional worldwide cover in excess of 60 days may be available

Can I insure my home while it is being built?

Yes! CGI can provide insurance for homes under construction and/or when your home is undergoing major renovations. The following is insured:

  • Fire, lightning, explosion

  • Burglary, housebreaking, theft involving forcible entry

  • Riot, strike, civil commotion

  • Malicious damage

  • Water damage

  • Collision or impact by vehicles or animals

  • Earthquake, volcanic eruption

  • Hurricane, windstorm, rainstorm

  • Falling trees

If you are the contractor CGI can provide the following additional cover:

  • Public Liability insurance to provide for legal liability in case of injury or damage to third party properties.

  • Employers’ Liability insurance to provide for legal liability for injury to those in your employment.

If you hire a contractor ensure that he has insurance in place to compensate for:

  • Equipment owned and operated by the contractor

  • Legal liability for accidental damage to the property of a third party

  • Legal liability for an accident which causes bodily injury to a third party

How do you determine my rates?

By taking a basic amount of information from you we can determine your risk level. Factors such as occupation, age, driving experience, type of vehicle, engine capacity, age of vehicle, and vehicle value will influence your premium.

What makes my rates go up?

Among the many things that can affect your rates are:

  • Increasing the sum insured

  • Adding or changing drivers on your policy, particularly young drivers.

  • Causing an accident or being convicted of a violation such as speeding..

  • Modification of the vehicle engine

  • Changes in cover.

What discounts do you offer?

The main discount is the No Claim Discount. It means you pay less premium based on how many years of insurance you’ve had without making a claim.

We give a ‘No Claim’ Discount when:

  • You renew your Insurance Policy
  • You have been entitled to a ‘No Claim’ Discount under a previous insurance policy within the last year.

    No Claim Discounts are a maximum of:

    • 65% on Comprehensive Motor Insurance
    • 50% on Third Party Motor Insurance
    • 15% on Homeowners Comprehensive Insurance

You may also be eligible for an extra discount if you have more than one vehicle insured with Consumers’ Guarantee Insurance.

FAQs : Payments

What are the payment options?
You can pay your premium in full, or in up to 3 installments with no extra charge.

Where and how should payments be made?
You can either:

  • Send a cheque or postal order in the mail, or

  • Visit the office where we can accept all major credit cards, cheque, postal orders, or cash.

Will I receive a notice to let me know when payments are due?

  • In the case of instalment due dates, CGI will send you a statement to alert you that payment is due, and place a follow up reminder call if necessary.

At your renewal, CGI will send a renewal notice which will state your revised premium for the upcoming year and when it is due. We will also place a reminder call.
